G00 Blue - State Cup Champions!
G00_BLUE 07 MAR 2010 -

WE BELIEVE!

This is the chant our G00 Blue girls would recite over and over this past season as our coach Pete Delgadillo would ask "Do You Believe?" at the beginning of each game. Finishing third in their league division, the girls opted to continue post-season play by signing up for the State Cup, Governor's division. Kicking off way back in January, the girls won three of four games to get to the "Round of 16". Shutting out Laguna Hills Eclipse 5-0 and then beating CSC Sand Diego 6-1, the girls lost the 3rd game against FC Heat in what was a surprise 1-5 loss in the wake of such early success. When the following weekend's games were canceled, the girls took advantage of the break to play some very tough friendlies put on by the "Celtic" organization. We even scheduled 5 games one weekend, but the girls came back stronger than ever when State Cup resumed. They secured 2nd place in their bracket by shutting out Simi Valley Eclipse 3-0 in the final game of the early round.

The first game in the Round of 16 was won in PK's against United FC and then they were off to the Quarter Final, beating San Diego Surf 4-1. The Semi Final game against LAFC was one of the most challenging contests, the girls were down 0-1 at the half but rallied to a 2-1 win. By this time, the girls' momentum was unstoppable and Coach Pete explained to the girls at the beginning of the Championship game against SCV Magic that this was going to be a very physical game. In fact, both sides had more than one player go out with injuries, fortunately no one was seriously hurt and there was never a question of intent. Chelsea G00 Blue emerged with a 5-1 win, with every girl on the roster getting plenty of field time in this important game and 3 of our girls sharing the scoring duties. We congratulate SCV Magic on their success in reaching the Finals and thank them for both a hard fought battle and for their sportsmanship!

The girls and families of Chelsea G00 Blue wish to give thanks to all our coaches for their dedication and leadership and to our sponsors for their financial support - with an especially Big Thank You to Adam Kennedy who's generosity has helped us tremendously.

Your Chelsea G00 Blue Girls: FRONT ROW: Brooke Franks, Sterling Millsap, Vandana Kadiamada, Nicole Zepeda, Zaria Nogales, Hannah Alfaro. BACK ROW: Vanessa Solis, Regan Millsap, Jordan Diaz, Madison Goerlinger, Mia Bannon, Sofia Rose Delgadillo, Morgan Weinstein, Sophia Kim. COACHES: Chris, Pete & Fernando

We salute you Coach Pete!
G96 Blue 2010 Cal Cup Champions
G96_BLUE 28 FEB 2010 - Receipe for a great tournament win? Mix in 26 teams, three weekends, rain delays, and schedule changes. Sprinkle in some hard work, determination, and teamwork. Add a dash of luck. Result? One sweet victory for G96 Blue!

Although going undefeated during pool play, things did not start getting interesting until the playoffs, where G96 would have to win three games in one day to secure a championship.

The Blues first met up with Silver East rival, Los Gauchos, in the quarterfinals. Regulation time was not enough to decide the contest and penalty kicks were needed. Little did the team know that this was going to be the order of the day. Quarters, semis, and finals - every match was decided by PK's from then on. In every case, the Chelsea girls came out on top.

Coming up big in goal - Allie Jara. On PK kick duty - Jaime McDonald, Kiana Tomeo, Val Santana, Kylie Watkins, and Tia Sandford. Whether blocking the shot or putting the ball in the back of the net, these six were the sure bet in the tiebreakers.

Backing them up - the rest of G96 Blue. Fowards Brooke Lovelady and Rebekka Poss. Midfielders Kira Weaver, Alyssa Regalado, Maddy Coe, and Makenzie Coovert. Defenders Devon Morones and Kimmy Hauck. Congrats and well done girls! Go Chelsea!
Chelsea vs. LAFC in State Cup Semi Finals!
G00_BLUE 22 FEB 2010 - Chelsea Blue Girls Under 9 have advanced to the Final Four in the Governor's Cup. Beating Simi Valley Eclipse in a 3-0 shut-out on Saturday in the mud and cold drizzle at Temecula, the girls moved on to face United FC on Sunday morning. Tied at 2-2, the game went into two overtime periods and ended with the Chelsea win in PK's. Later that day, the Chelsea girls faced SD Surf for a 4-1 win.

Next Saturday in Lancaster, the Chelsea SC girls will face LAFC in the Semi-Finals. LAFC will be the Away team next Saturday and our girls, accustomed to being cheered on as "Chelsea Blue", will be wearing their Blue jerseys under their Whites. A win will the put the girls against the SCV Magic or Cypress Elite in the afternoon Championship Game.

The Chelsea girls are very excited to have made it this far and are looking forward to meeting the LAFC team next weekend. We'd all like to say "We Believe!" and "We Love You Coach Pete".

Go Chelsea Blue!
  G98 Blue - State Cup Sweet 16
Chelsea G98 Blue is off to the Sweet 16 for State Cup in Lancaster February 27th. They dominated pool play by going 4-0, they gave up no goals in 4 games and scored 13 goals for. In Round 32 they beat Carlsbad Lightning 3-1. Since league the team has a record of 15-4-4. Offense is doing a great job putting the ball in the net, while defense is doing a great job of keeping the ball out. Good luck next weekend girls!
Chelsea Girls Look to Advance in State Cup
G00_BLUE 04 FEB 2010 - Chelsea Blue Girls Under 9 are currently placed 2nd in their Governor's Cup bracket and are hoping to advance to the Round of 16 this Saturday in Temecula. The Chelsea girls traveled last weekend to Simi Valley and shut out the Laguna Hills Eclipse in a 5-0 game last Saturday afternoon. After a night of BBQ ribs, movies, fun and games at the Holiday Inn Express in Simi Valley, the girls met the Crusaders from San Diego and allowed only one goal in a 6-1 game.

Meeting the FC Heat from Escondido at noon on Sunday proved to be a bigger challenge for the girls. The Heat was coming off of 2 big wins on Saturday, and were apparently well-rested and ready to fight. Chelsea had an early 1 point lead, but in the last of the 2nd half, we allowed several goals and lost painfully 1-4. The next, and final match in this round will be this coming weekend, Feb 6th in Temecula when we meet the Simi Valley Eclipse at 9am. Simi Valley Eclipse is currently ranked 4th in the bracket. A win, or even a tie, will advance the Chelsea Girls to the next round in State Cup.
Chelsea SC G99 Honor Blues' Hawley
G99_BLUE 04 FEB 2010 - As the G99's fall season came to an end this weekend during the Cal South State Cup Tournament in San Bernardino, the Chelsea players and families came together to honor a So Cal Blues player - Katie Hawley #3. Katie aka KitKat, 9, was diagnosed with Stage 3, High Risk, Ganglioneuroblastoma, nodular cancer, in August 2009. Currently, Katie is undergoing stem cell chemo at Children's Hospital Los Angeles and fighting each day for her life.

Katie's amazing Mom, Mary Kay, was so generous to send the entire team bracelets which were created to honor Katie's fight against cancer. The bracelet says, "Katie Hawley #3 Climb The Mountain." Each Chelsea player received a bracelet before their first game on Saturday and sat and talked a bit about Katie's story and the battle she has been going through and the battle which lies ahead in the days and months to come. Despite the sad story, there were no sad faces... the girls were so proud to wear her bracelet! So proud, they would put the bracelet in a shin guard when the referees made them remove them before the game.

Throughout the State Cup weekend, the Chelsea girls talked often about Katie, made her handmade cards and took pictures showing their support of her fight. Several photos are shown here. We hope the photos bring a smile to Katie's face and inspire other teams, players and those within the soccer community and beyond to reach out to Katie and her family during this challenging time.

To learn more about Katie's story, please visit http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/katiehawley. You will be inspired by Katie's fight to live, her devoted and loving parents, her ever-growing support system and the hundreds of strangers who have stumbled upon her story one way or another and offer their prayers and support to the Hawley family each and every day.

The Chelsea SC G99 team looks forward to seeing Katie back on the soccer field soon! Keep Climbing Katie, you can do it!
G97 Blue - DBWV Winter Shootout Champions
G97_BLUE 28 JAN 2010 - After an opening round loss the team rebounded with three straight wins including clean sheets in the semi finals and finals. According to coach Bolin: "Our athletes could have packed it in after the first loss, but they didn't". "They came back even stronger and reorganized themselves which shows a lot of heart". Second round action saw G97 Blue returning to their prior run of good form. Pinpoint passing and surgical finishing produced a 2-1 victory with Ashley Roskelly scoring the first goal with a clinical finish placing the ball calmly in the back of the net. Luli Bethencourt then provided the winning goal with a nice bit of skill beating the goalkeeper off the far post. Fantastic services leading to the assists were provided by Quincy Burtenshaw and Kaylee Bolin.

The victory was enough to place G97 Blue in the semi-finals were they faced the first place team from the other bracket. But Ashley Roskelly's 2 goal performance (both of which where 20 yard rockets!) was too much and G97's run of good form continued with a 2-0 victory. Excellent team work provided by Emily Pelstring, Makinna Posada, Dominique Oden, Karlie Bennett, and Julia Tan provided the necessary build up to produce such fine finishes. Back up goalkeeper, Jessica Matson, produced the clean sheet which set a rematch of game one for the final.

In the final, facing a determined and gritty silver team they had previously lost to, G97 maintained possession and balance which lead to a foul resulting in set piece just outside the penalty box. Set piece specialist, Kaylee Bolin, produced a wicked blast over the wall which proved too much for the goalkeeper putting Blue up 1-0 going into the half. The second half picked up where the first ended with G97 providing the majority of possession. With 10 minutes left in the game, Kaylee Bolin again fired a blast past the goalkeeper cementing the game and the tournament championship. Clean sheets were compliments of CC McPhee, Makayla Lichtenwalter, Julissa Zuniga, Audrey Briseno, and GK Gillian Kliss. Well done girls! And congratulations!

  B97 Blue - League Champions
B97_BLUE 24 NOV 2009 - Since Spring of 2009, Chelsea SC B97 Blue had one mission... to win their bracket in fall and get promoted to Silver. Using our mission statement since we started... "the team that prays together, stays together", the bond these young men have created will never be broken.

The team took no time off this year, played in 5 tournaments against top flight competition and worked on a possession game to out maneuver their opponents. Led by team captains Brian Hai, Logan Harrigan and Andy Norin, these young men exceeded all expectations. In just their 2nd year together, the defense only gave up 10 goals all season. The defensive crew leading the way was Logan Harrigan in goal (who posted 7 shutouts), Brandon Kretschmer at center back, Riley Villanueva, Mason Mitzner and Seth Revuelda on the outside, Connor Leech and Joshua Gutierrez sharing time at Stopper.

Our midfield was the most improved unit this year with many of our goals coming from this highly skilled group of boys. With Andy Norin, Chase Gray and Eric Kamin sharing duties on the outside, Brian Hai, Isaac Meda and Joshua Gutierrez shared time holding down our center mid posts. Finally, newcomers Kevin Villareal (who led our team in goals) and Parker Hodges (who led our team in running through whatever was in front of him) alongside our veteran Steve Vizarraga playing the role of Ronaldo on top brought forth a new attacking dimension we never had.

Our team speed, overall defensive organization and keen technical superiority was the key to the season's success. Congratulations boys on being promoted to Silver. Your coaching staff and parents could never be more proud. Looking for to meeting our goals in 2010 while growing in the beautiful game.
