G98 Black - Finalists at 2010 OC Kickoff Classic
G98_BLACK 25 AUG 2010 - Congratulations to Chelsea G98 girls Black as they reached the finals at the 2010 OC Kickoff Classic!

Day one of the tournament the girls took the first game 5 to 1 against Newport Mesa where they controlled a team that had beat them months prior at the Copa Laguna Tournament. In Game two the girls started off fast and furious to dominate TVSA Hawks by beating them 8 to 0.

Day two of the tournament the girls came out to win and played hard and beat the Pacific SC Gunners 3 to 1. Game 4 of the tournament is where they met Escondido FC Heat where they battled back and forth and ended up in a tie 2 to 2.

All teams in our flight played 4 games and the team with the most points taking home the championship, unfortunately we missed it by 1 point and placed 2nd against Escondido FC Heat.

The girls came away with their heads held high as they knew they played great soccer and left everything on the field.
Congratulations girls you did awesome.
G96 White - OC Kickoff Classic Finalists
G96_WHITE 24 AUG 2010 - Congratulations to Chelsea G96 White as they reached the finals at the 2010 OC Kickoff Classic!

The team played some good soccer this past weekend, making this the second tournament this year where they have advanced to the finals.

In bracket play they had 2 wins and 1 loss, but earned enough points to advance to the final game.

The final was an exciting back and forth game against Gold Coast Xtreme, who went on to win 1-0.

A very good weekend overall, with the girls showing the positive progress in their skills and tactical play.
G95 Black - OC Kickoff Classic Champions
G95_BLACK 22 AUG 2010 - The G95 Black team travelled to Irvine over the weekend to compete in the OC Kickoff Classic. After several very exciting games the team emerged as champions. Chelsea began the tournament against a solid Irvine Premier squad. After a first half of constant pressure the score was still 0-0. The ladies fell behind in the second half but were able to fight their way back and took the lead in the last 3 minutes from an Alyssa Kavanaugh penalty kick winning the game 2-1.

The second game of the day tested the girls physically and mentally as they fell behind again 1-0 in the first half. After a half-time of soul searching the ladies were determined to win the game. Two second half goals by Nikki Holden was all that it took to push the team to a 2-1 win.

The theme remained similar on Sunday when the girls jumped out to an early 2-0 lead over Desert United and held on for a 2-1 victory pushing them into the final. In the final game the ladies were tested by a solid silver-elite Galaxy Alliance squad. Chelsea went up 2-0 off of goals by Kaylie Dudevoir and Nikki Holden. Galaxy tied the game up with only 10 minutes to play but Chelsea was determined to get the victory. A corner with only minutes to play was all it took for Grace Lang to win the game and the player of the game award. A great serve from Kavanaugh and good concentration from Lang and Chelsea propelled itself to their first tournament win of the summer. Congratulations ladies!
  G99 Blue - 2010 United Cup Finalists
G99_BLUE 16 AUG 2010 - Congratulations to Chelsea G99 as they reached the finals at the 2010 United Cup!

The girls did well enough in pool play to earn themselves a top-seed in the semi-finals, making it three tournaments in a row where they've advanced as far. Good thing too, because the final game of the bracket proved to be somewhat lackluster, dropping the game 0-2.

The semifinals was a rematch with TV Hawks, a game where previously the girls came from behind to win. With another trip to the finals on the line, the team played hard and netted an important - and ultimately game-winning - goal just seconds before halftime.

The second half brought more excitement and enthusiasm with Chelsea slotting two more goals for a 3-0 victory, and climbed into a place in the finals for the second time this summer season.

On a late Monday afternoon, the G99's played perhaps their most impressive game of the summer. Full of heart, teamwork, and resiliency, Chelsea battled Arsenal FC, a team that had scored 34 goals in the tournament games prior, to a 0-1 halftime score.

The second half was more battling, and intense effort. Though the girls didn't manage to win the game on the scoreboard, they did secure an inspiring showing on the field, and could hold their heads up high with pride knowing they gave everything they could, including a few bumps and bruises!

Congratulations Girls! We are incredibly proud of you!
B01 Blue Finalists at Xtreme Cup
B01_BLUE 12 AUG 2010 - In only their 2nd tournament together, the Chelsea BU9 squad powered through with some solid wins and only one loss to the very powerful Celtic Harps Silver Team. The boys had two shutouts and scored 10 goals.

These fine young boys are coming together nicely and have shown great skill in each of their games. We are very excited for their first season and look forward to a successful Fall campaign.
G98 Blue - Mustang Stampede Finalists
G98_BLUE 10 AUG 2010 - Chelsea G98 Blue traveled to northern California the weekend of August 6-8th. They played against a number of northern California teams as well as a few southern California teams. It was an amazing weekend of soccer and bonding for the players and families. The greatest thing they came away with aside from a Finalist Medal was a love each other and team unity that can't be beat.

The girls played 6 games with a lot of heart and tenacity. Games were against Washington Rush with a 4-0 win, Surf White with a 3-3 tie, and against Gryphons they had a 4-0 win. In quarter finals they beat Placer United with a 3-1 win, and in semi-fnials the win was 3-1 vs Pleasanton Rage. In every game the girls used their exceptional passing skills and speed to complete each victory.

In the finals they met Legends where the game was played almost completely in the mid-field. The game went into 2 periods of overtime ending in a 0-0 tie. The girls were disappointed with a loss in PKs, however, parents couldn't be prouder of how the girls played all weekend. Coming away with a finalist medal in such a prestigious tournament is something everyone was ecstatic about. Overall, the team had 17 goals for and 5 against, more goals for then any other team in the U12 division, what a weekend!
G97 Black - San Diego Open Champions
G97_BLACK 29 JUL 2010 - Chelsea G97 Black traveled to hot and humid El Cajon to compete against some of the best club teams in the San Diego area in the San Diego Open. Despite only four months together, the team's progress in all aspects of the game (particularly team-play, multiple formations, skill building, defensive strategy and shape, and finishing) showed tremendous improvement. The defense had some of their best games yet, with two shutouts and only one goal given up in each of the other two tournament games. Excitement followed the girls through their very solid midfield to their attacking force, with great support, perfect assists, breakaway goals, and a hat-trick.

After two decisive shutouts, Chelsea found themselves down 1-0 against the Nomads in their most challenging game of the tournament, but the girls kept their poise, played solid soccer, and pulled off a critical goal to tie game 3 with less than a minute left. Chelsea took an early 1-0 lead in the final game, only to have the Matrix come back to tie. Two more Chelsea goals toward the end of the final game solidified a 3-1 victory and our championship.

We are so proud of our team's progress and performance, and are looking forward to a challenging season in the bronze bracket. Congratulations Girls! Way to go, Chelsea!

G98_BLACK 27 JUL 2010 - Congratulations to Chelsea's G98 Black for winning the Xtreme Cup and taking home the championship trophy and they did this by shutting out all the opponents they faced.

On day one they beat the Wolfpack 2-0 in their first game. In game two they tied FC Murrieta 0 - 0 to end up tied for first in points with them. Day two they beat ES Gunners 2 - 0 in the semi finals to play FC Murrieta again in the finals to shut them out 2 - 0 to win the tournament.

G99 Blue - Carlsbad Cup Champions
G99_BLUE 22 JUL 2010 - Congratulations to the Chelsea G99's for winning the Carlsbad Cup! In an exciting (and long) 3 day tournament, the G99 team came away with a hard fought 2-1 victory over West Coast FC in the finals on Monday evening. After going up 2-0 at the half, the girls fought to the finish and came away with a well-deserved tournament championship.

Ironically, the weekend started out with the same opponent, but different result, losing to West Coast 0-2. From there the group rebounded, with a refreshing pool party, and came back out to the field ready to go, winning 2-0, to set up a make-it-or-break-it third game on Sunday morning.

Chelsea took the lead 1-0 early in the second-half against the Oceanside Breakers, who only needed a tie to advance to the semi-finals. While the Breakers created several quality chances to even the score late in the game, the goalkeeping prowess of Izzy Magana proved to be equal to the challenge.

This victory set up a Monday afternoon showdown with TV Hawks, a team who had won all three of their preliminary games, and had yet to give up a goal. The Chelsea girls found themselves down early in the match, 0-1. Even after the girls tied the game, a late goal made the game 1-2 at the half.

Pumped up and confident, the girls came out ready to play the second half, but gave up yet another goal to find themselves down 1-3, and the parents pondering an early return home. Then the magic happened.

In the 20 minutes that remained, against a team who hadn't given up any goals in the preceding games, the Chelsea girls lit up the scorecard by netting 5 goals, including a hat-trick by Sierra Chhoeung, punting the final tally to 6-3, and catapulting the team into the finals.

In the final game, the girls were able to avenge their earlier loss to West Coast and sealed up their victory with two outstanding goals, and a dynamite performance by goalkeeper Emma Deane.

Congratulations Girls! We are so proud of you! Whoo-Whoo!
B97 Blue - Albion Cup Champions
B97_BLUE 21 JUL 2010 - Chelsea SC B97 entered the 2010 Albion Cup National Showcase in San Diego to test the hardest competition from across the country and also various parts of the world (Thailand was represented this year). The boys only gave up only 1 goal the entire tournament and had to beat two Gold teams from NoCal to win it all.

B97 had to play 5 games in just 2 1/2 days, fight through injuries
and very physical play. They won the overall bracket play and beat a very talented Castro Valley team (Sacramento) in the final game on Monday by a close score of 2-1.

This by far has been the best tournament these boys have played and the bonding time they enjoyed braces them for great success this Fall. We are so very proud of you all.
